5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
this really hit me odd yesterday... almost as if it is saying either we trust God or we trust people... now my natural thought is that I would trust God above people but I thought almost that I needed to trust people too somewhat... but this scripture is telling me that is false... either we trust God.. or we trust the world...
in one sense this is a great relief to me because I don't really trust people all that much.. I tend to just wait for them to do something against me... I know other people who are like that too... we learned from life experiences that even family members are not always loyal or faithful... so we have a hard time trusting people... but I always thought I was supposed to be learning to trust people despite their actions...
maybe I have been wrong about that.. maybe.. the only one I ever have to be willing to trust is God... and just maybe by trusting Him alone... I will be covered by Him...
