remember the sabbath...

8 “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 You have six days each week for your ordinary work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.

I have been looking at resting because I have not been feeling very restful.. more stressed... we often look at the scripture and determine this is about particular day... I am not sure it was... I think that God is telling us that we have to set apart a day each week that is dedicated to Him... dedicated to drawing near to Him... does it have to be the sabbath? I wouldn't think so...

we get so busy with life that we never slow down... we never rest.. we never sit in silence just spending time with God... do we go to church to be alone with God? not really... we go to hear the word.. to learn from the sermonic moment.. we go to praise and worship... we really aren't there for God.. that is more for us than for Him...

I am thinking that we should be setting aside a particular day or more.. weekly.. that we are before the Lord.. that He is our only thought... that we leave the world behind.. we aren't focused on anything or anyone but God... how will we hear Him if we are never alone and silent before Him...

Lord call us all to rest in you... to spend time alone and listening to you... worshiping you... loving you... thinking of you alone... I love you Lord... you are my everything... truly... and I am thankful...
